A
local area network (LAN) is a group of computers
and associated devices that share a common communications
line and typically share the resources of a single
processor or server within a small geographic
area (for example, within an office building).
Usually, the server has applications and data
storage that are shared in common by multiple
computer users. A local area network may serve
as few as two or three users (for example, in
a home network) or many as thousands of users
(for example, in an FDDI network).
Wavex
can design or reconfigure your network to give
you the maximum performance. Wavex can isolate
bottle necks or individual machines which may
require greater data transfer rates.
Your
current network may be sufficient, but badly configured,
Wavex has the tools to diagnose potential problems.
You may be surprised how easily it is to increase
the performance of your current network.
A
WAN (wide area network) is a geographically dispersed
telecommunications network and the term distinguishes
a broader telecommunication structure from a local
area network (). A wide area network may be privately
owned or rented, but the term usually connotes
the inclusion of public (shared user) networks.
An intermediate form of network in terms of geography
is a metropolitan area network (metropolitan area
network).
If
you have more than one site, and wish to be able
to either share documents or share your current
infrastructure (servers, e-mail etc.), you will
need a WAN.
Wavex
can organise the installation of leased lines
or ISDN lines to facilitate and connection to
a remote site. Wavex can install backup lines
to prevent any downtime in case of a leased line
failure.
On completion of any work, you will be provided
with a diagram outlining the layout of your networks.
If you should choose to move to another IT company,
Wavex will be happy to provide all details of
your existing configuration.
Asymmetric
Digital Subscriber Line
With
the arrival of inexpensive bandwidth, Wavex can
organise the installation of an ADSL line which
in the UK currently offers 512k transfer rates.
We can also setup your infrastructure to use the
ADSL line.
Obviously,
if you require faster connections, we can provide
you with faster connections.
