How Tracey starts the day...
Tracey’s usual business day starts at her work desk where she spends the majority of her time. She loves using multiple devices, often shuffling between her smartphone, her tablet and her business laptop depending on location. Tracey has her “day job” but also plays a significant part in a number of strategic initiatives so she sometimes has challenges juggling different responsibilities. The strategic initiatives each have their own online work-space and are defined in the Planner. This groups the project plan, dashboards, and associated people together, thus improving project execution and collaboration.
Navigating the workday...
For her day job, she uses the standard Microsoft Office suite, mainly Word and Excel. Due to the size of some of these documents she rarely works on them alone – frequently there will be five or six people updating it simultaneously. Tracey will focus mostly on the technical content in the document while others work on the executive summary and commercials. She also find it useful that she can share her screen with her manager based in another office. Tracey is not so strong on graphics and finds it useful showing her attempts to her manager for feedback. Tracey spends time with the Client Advocate from the IT firm. This session helps Tracey to see ways of enhancing her use of technology – with so many new things emerging every week Tracey rarely has the time himself to research better ways of working.
What really matters...
When Tracey needs to contact IT Support, she has many communication channels depending on her current needs, she uses chat if it’s a simple question, she calls the service-desk if its urgent, she sends an email if she’s on the tube. IT keeps her updated and checks with her that everything is working. Tracey likes the desktop popup which provides her progress reports of her IT issue and asks if she is completely satisfied with the IT support team based in London – rarely she has clicked “no”, but when she does, a manager from the IT function immediately contacts her to put things right.
