How Emily starts the day...
Emily is the personal assistant to the managing director who is less IT literate. As such, she makes it a point to reach the office before her boss so that she can review the daily priorities and get everything in order.
Navigating the workday...
Emily sets up meetings with business heads and reviews any issues, trying to solve these before they impact her boss. She uses full delegation over the bosses’ mailbox to send and receive emails as her boss as well as manage the calendar. Emily knows how her boss likes to see documents, so she collaborates with other colleagues on the same document; this often involves viewing someone’s screen during a video conference with someone in one of their sales offices in order to provide feedback. This way she minimizes delays and ensures her boss is happy with the quality. Moreover, Emily likes to work quickly so the IT must be very responsive. She uses a range of information resources to ensure her boss has the data needed to make the necessary decisions.

Emily raises IT support issues on behalf of her boss – when she does, communication is critical so she can update her boss as to the progress. Using chat is helpful to quickly update IT on changing requirements but also collaborate on possible short-term workarounds.
