bfinance operates the only pan-European tender platform for institutional asset management and commercial banking. Focused on the needs of major multinationals and institutional investors, the bfinance platform has managed more than €15 billion in transaction tenders to date. bfinance operates in London , Paris and Munich - its clients in the UK include Nationwide, Pilkington and Panasonic. A promotion left Shawn Adams with two months to find a supplier that could replace his skills when he moved from London to the Paris office. He had 50 employees who would be relying on his chosen supplier and he would be managing them from Paris . A simple Google search yielded four suppliers with whom he met and invited to tender proposals. He had some specific needs: 'Obviously I needed someone who would monitor our systems and keep the systems and servers running. But I also needed a company that had engineers on the ground in the locality.' Adams also had personal reasons for making the correct decisions. Even though he would be moving to Paris , he would suffer were he to make the wrong decision: 'I was taking on a bigger job in a different city - if things didn't go smoothly when I left London , it would have been a colossal pain in the neck.' Adams was looking for someone to take care of systems he had put in place but also needed to keep the country Managing Director onside. 'I felt it was important that, whilst I made the decision, the MD was on board - after all, he's the one who pays the bills.' So what made Adams decide to use Wavex? 'I have to say their systems impressed me. I particularly liked the active remote management and their ability to pre-empt and solve issues. Their Extranet was also key for me and probably one of the clinching factors. But the bottom line was that their pricing was just so much simpler than the other finalist. I pay a flat fee with call-out charges if I need them. I don't need them that often.' What's the situation now? 'We're actually looking at implementing a similar system in our Munich office right now. If we can, we'd like to use Wavex's technology to do the monitoring and local engineers to handle any onsite visits.'
