Wavex has recently launched a new and exciting service product (called APEX®). Designed to disrupt the IT managed services sector and unmatched by competitors, it is seeing incredible interest from potential customers. In order to capitalise on this demand and on our market leading position we need experienced Technical Architect in a pre-sales capacity, to join our team and work with us to meet our ambitious growth plans.

About the role

The Technical Architect will be responsible for scoping and designing high level infrastructure solutions (cloud and server applications). You will consult with different levels of client stakeholders (within various industries) to determine their technology requirements.

To be successful in this role, you will need to be able to effectively communicate infrastructure design solutions to different stakeholders and justify benefits of the proposed solutions in business terms.

  • Work collaboratively with the Sales Team (for new business) and the Service Delivery team (for existing business) to design high level infrastructure solutions
    • Engage with senior executives from existing and prospective clients in establishing the clients technology requirements, developing a peer-to-peer rapport and relationships.
    • Develop compeling sales presentations of high level design solutions (including pricing within the Wavex pricing framework)
    • Facilitate workshops to establish client business requirements
    • Write technical proposals and RFP responses
  • Be the Technical Authority for projects implementation
    • Work with the Project Management Team to define the key technical deliverables for solutions that have been designed
    • Drive and oversee the low level design phase to ensure the solutions can be implemented by the project delivery engineering team
    • Work with project managers and project delivery engineers to ensure that the scoped projects are being delivered in line with specific standards and deadlines
    • Be the escalation point for any technical issues that might occur during the project
  • Be the Technical Authority for allocated clients, overseeing and signing off on major changes as part of the change process
  • Perform risk management for solutions delivered by the technical teams (both to customer and internally to Wavex). Work with the Project Management Team to ensure they are included into project plans and RAID documentation accordingly.
  • Present new service solutions to the Architectual Forum within Wavex
    • Add and review the Wavex Service Catalouge. Work with Wavex partners to identify new products and services
    • Influence technology road mapping for clients through agreed processes and initiatives
  • Work with the Procurement Team to advise on technical equipment requirements
  • Be an ambasador of Wavex. Promote and maintain the Company’s reputation at the highest level
Qualification and Experience

Must have (technical)
  • At least 2 of the following certifications:
    • TOGAF Certified
    • Microsoft Azure Certified
    • VMWare Certified
    • Citrix Certified
    • Amazon Web Services Certified
    • Cisco Certified
    • Juniper Certified
  • Experience as technical lead within the design and delivery of:
    • Cloud migration projects
    • Office 365 migration projects
    • Enterprise wide end user computing solutions, i.e. Thick Clients, VDI or server based desktops
    • Disaster Recovery solutions
  • Background and technical experience of:
    • The Microsoft stack, in particular: Windows, SQL, Exchange, Active Directory and Hyper-V
    • VMware
    • Citrix
  • Good networking knowledge, routing, switching and security (from a design and delivery perspective) of:
    • Juniper switches and firewalls
    • Palo Alto firewalls
    • Cisco switches and firewalls
    • HP switches
  • Good knowledge of WAN acceleration and alternative high latency solutions
Must have (commercial)
  • Track record of pre-sales experience
  • Writing high quality RFPs with little or no support from technical teams
  • Delivering compelling presentations at Board level (being able to translate technology into business terms)
  • Track record of solution costing, including technology products and licensing
  • Good understanding of architectural concepts, methodologies and mapping approaches
  • Track record of applying architecture principles that affect changes to a business environment

      Remuneration and benefits

      • Total package circa £100,000 gross per annum (basic salary + commission) depending on experience
